Andy acts for international clients in foreign direct investment into China in the form of joint ventures, and wholly foreign-owned enterprises, often involving equity transfers, mergers and acquisitions, or split-offs, covering industries ranging from manufacturing, real estate, and tourism to information technology, foods and services.

International companies in China turn to Andy for counsel on matters involving representative offices, branches, subsidiaries (including under WTO or CEPA scheme), business operations (including retail, wholesale, distribution, and outsourcing), foreign exchange control, dissolution, compliance and financing.

He advises developers, funds and other investors on a wide range of aspects in real estate from investment structure, land and building acquisition, establishment of project company, obtaining the required permits and licences, and construction, to post-completion matters including property title application, sales and leasing and property management.

Major companies operating in China receive Andy’s counsel on a wide range of human resource issues including special contract terms, ESOPs, termination agreements, dismissal, compensation and restrictive covenants. He also assists companies in arranging for and managing labour arbitration or litigation in China where required. Andy frequently gives presentations on employment law in China.
