Experience

Contentious matters
  • Acted for an international construction joint venture in upstream and downstream arbitration proceedings arising from a mega-infrastructure in the Middle East.
  • Acted for an Indonesian subsidiary of a leading Floating, Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) provider group in a consolidated arbitration under the SIAC Arbitration Rules, with respect to multiple commercial and financial disputes.
  • Assisted a major developer on a flagship luxury residential development in relation to a multi-hearing arbitration dispute relating to workmanship, design, delay and disruption issues.
  • Acted for a local developer in four separate domestic arbitration proceedings against a contractor in relation to disputes relating to defective building works and final accounts under four separate contracts.

Non-contentious and advisory matters
  • Advised a statutory body employer in relation to a tower crane accident which had caused a few fatalities at the construction site of a housing development project.
  • Advised a major blue-chip developer on issues related to the potential insolvency of a main contractor.
  • Advised a statutory corporation on issues relating to the collapse of a non-loadbearing wall at its premises, such as potential claims against the culpable party(ies) who have caused or contributed to the collapse and settlement of claims from third parties.
  • Advised a major blue-chip developer in relation to defects found in stone facade works.
  • Advised a multinational public utilities company on a draft subcontract agreement for the operation and maintenance of a sewage treatment facility.
  • Assisted a statutory body wholly owned by the HKSAR government in reviewing and preparing the construction schedule of a Franchise Agreement.
  • Assisted an investment holding company which is listed in Hong Kong in reviewing a large number of construction-related contracts for a merger and acquisition transaction involving a construction project.
