William is a Partner and the Co-Head of Tanglau’s Healthcare team. Clients turn to William Chan for his expertise in medico-legal cases, leveraging his extensive experience in medical malpractice claims and disciplinary proceedings. Hospitals and healthcare professionals, including doctors, dentists, nurses and physiotherapists, trust William’s counsel in a wide range of legal proceedings, including civil claims for medical negligence, inquiries before disciplinary tribunals, Coroner's inquests, criminal cases in the context of clinical practice and judicial review cases.
William has acted as advocate in Medical Council and Dental Council inquiries, and also in Coroner's inquests. He regularly delivers lectures and seminars to healthcare professionals, and also contributes articles on medical-legal issues in various newsletters regularly, including the monthly newsletter of the Hong Kong Medical Association.
William serves as the Honorary Legal Adviser to a number of professional bodies, including the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association, the Hong Kong College of Critical Care Nursing and the Asian Pacific Interventional Pulmonology Alliance. He is also a Lay Member of the Ethics Committee of the New Territories West Cluster.
