Construction partner Jason Leung is quoted in Commercial Dispute Resolution on the scope and impact of Hong Kong’s Construction Industry Security of Payment Ordinance, which is set to come into effect in August 2025.
Jason noted that the new law addresses long-standing payment issues in the construction industry by eliminating “pay when paid” clauses and introducing firm deadlines for payments. He also highlighted its broad coverage, covering not only traditional construction work but also the supply of goods and the provision of a wide variety of services.
